He was thrilled when he found out she was actually a criminal profiler. As the last one they had he scared off. she had been stuck with him a few days and didn't seem to be afraid so he was thinking he could talk her into staying maybe. Right now she was happy to look over some cases to pass the time. He helped her to his office that he had set up for her to do some work, and yet she was right where he could keep an eye on her.
After a few hours she was deep in a case they have been working on for months and seemed to be enjoying herself as she was writing away and helping get some clues on who the killer was and where he may be hiding out.

Jan: Because we realized we didn't love each other like that. We were always the best of friends. Getting married started to break the friendship. It just wasn't what we were wanting. We wanted to go back to being friends.
She said honestly as she did love him, but she didn't love him like a wife should love a husband, and he didn't love her like a husband should love his wife. It had been a very pleasant divorce. There was no fighting over anything, and he even lived in the same house until he got his own place.

"I date occasionally, but usually it's just because I'm going somewhere where a date is expected. Even then, it's usually one of my sisters who I take. If none are available, I'll take one of their friends. Those dates never make it to a second one."
